Cybercrime refers to illegal activities that are carried out via computer or internet services. With an increasing number of services being provided online, the reports of cybercrime have also increased significantly. As per the latest 2024 reports, Russia reported the highest number of cybercrimes with a WCI (World Cybercrime Index) of 58.39.

Description: There were over 3.4 thousand cases of cybercrime related to sexual harassment or exploitation reported across India in 2022. This was a stark jump in the number of such cyber crimes in the country compared to the years 2016 and 2017. Description: In 2022, the southern state of Karnataka in India had the highest number of cyber crimes committed with the motivation to defraud. The state of Telangana came in second with over ten thousand cases of cyber fraud. The country recorded more than 42 thousand cases of cybercrime motivated by fraudulent behaviour that year. These crimes came under the purview of numerous sections of the Indian Penal Code under the Information Technology Act (Cybercrimes).
