Israel-Hamas War
The Israel-Hamas war dates back to a time even before Israel was formed. The conflicts that started as clashes of common interests and religious beliefs of Jewish, Christian, and Islamic followers took a turn for the worse. Millions of people were forced to leave their homes, while thousands were either injured or killed as a result of the Israel-Hamas war.
Here is a timeline of the Israel-Hamas War, covering the period from February 2022 to February 2024:
Israel-Hamas War: Initial Attacks (October 7th–October 27th, 2022)
- Hamas began attacking Israel on October 7th, 2023.
- Air sirens went off in central and southern Israel.
- The Supernova Music Festival being held in Negev, Israel, was attacked by Hamas forces.
- The United States came out in Israel’s support and deployed the US Navy.
- The Hamas forces condemned US’s support for Israel and threatened the US.
- Israeli forces invaded Gaza as a counter-attack.
- Turkish aid arrives in Egypt, bound for Gaza.
- Iran threatened intervention and a preemptive war against Israel.
- Heavy round of airstrikes went off by Israel.
Israel-Hamas War: Gaza Strip Invasion (October 28th–November 23rd, 2023)
- The Jabalia refugee camp was under attack in the Gaza Strip, causing massive casualties.
- Several schools in Gaza were hit by Israeli airstrikes.
- “Terrorist infrastructure” was discovered at al-Quds University and the Abu Bakr mosque.
- A deal was approved by the Israelis with Hamas to exchange Palestinian prisoners for hostages.
- Al-Awda Hospital was bombed, killing at least four doctors.
- The Gaza Health Ministry suspended the evacuation of Al-Shifa Hospital following Israeli arrests.
Israel-Hamas War: First Ceasefire (November 24th, 2024–January 1st, 2024)
- Aid trucks were starting to enter Gaza through the Rafah Border Crossing.
- Six Palestinians were reportedly killed in the West Bank during the Israeli raids.
- Exchange of prisoners and hostages took place between Hamas and Israel.
- An operation was conducted in Jabalia to kill Hamas fighters and destroy its infrastructure.
- The Kamal Adwan hospital was bombarded, killing at least four people.
- A missile launched by Yemen was intercepted by Israel’s Arrow defense system.
- The United States vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
- A massacre was reported at the Jabalia refugee camp, with civilians being “executed” in the streets.
- Israel withdrew five brigades from the Gaza Strip.
- The Israeli President stated that Israel had no plans to expel Palestinians from Gaza.
- The Islamic Resistance Iraq claimed responsibility for attacks on an Israeli base in the Golan Heights and a cruise missile attack on a ‘vital target’ on Haifa Bay.
- Saudi Arabia expressed interest in normalizing relations with Israel after the conclusion of the war but added that any deal must lead to the creation of a Palestinian state.
Israel-Hamas War: Yemen Airstrikes (January 12th–Present)
- Israel made an agreement with Qatar to deliver medicines to Gaza hostages.
- Another airstrike was launched on Houthi territory in Yemen.
- Israeli protesters gathered to block aid trucks from entering Gaza at the Karab-Abu Salem border crossing.
- The US and UK launched two airstrikes on the port of Yemen.
- A convoy of trucks carrying food to the Gaza strip was attacked by Israeli forces.
- Rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip, targeting southern Israel.
- A complaint was filed with the UN Security Council by Lebanon over Israeli attacks on civilian targets.
- It was reported that Israel was behind the attacks on major gas pipelines in Iran.
- The US announced a veto of a UN vote calling for a ceasefire.
- A ban was announced on vessels linked to Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom by the Houthis.
