      • "content": "SINGAPORE: Tesla's brand and business remain sturdy in Singapore, even as other parts of the world have pushed back against the car company in response to its CEO Elon Musk's support for United States President Donald Trump. According to data from the Land Transport Authority's website, there were 262 new Tesla car registrations in January and February this year in Singapore, up from 137 in the same period last year. Owners here told CNA said they were unconcerned by the impact of American politics on Tesla's image, and were more interested in the performance of their vehicles on the roads. Globally, Mr Musk’s decision to switch gears from entrepreneur to partisan political player has led to a fall in brand sentiment. Tesla shares have plunged by nearly 40 per cent over past weeks, chalking up losses ever since Mr Musk was given the task of slashing government spending and headcounts through a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the US. Protests have taken place outside Tesla showrooms in the US, vehicle owners have been harassed and some have reported buyer’s remorse. Sales and share prices have also plummeted in Europe, along with multiple reports of Teslas being vandalised. PAYING NO HEED None of these developments bother Tesla owner Alvin Khoo, who got his vehicle in April last year. “Politics are macro factors which only have a temporary effect on the brand,” said the 40-year-old, who runs two live band companies. “What matters are the intrinsic factors of the company - (that) it’s a good car with one of the best technologies, and it’s a very comfortable ride,” added the Tesla Model Y Long Range owner. “That’s all that matters when I decide to buy the car.” Agreeing, accountant Malcolm Loh said there was no relation between owning a Tesla and whatever views one might have of its CEO. “My choice of getting a Tesla had nothing to do with Elon at all, just like my choice of buying Apple iPhones over the years has nothing to do with Tim Cook (Apple's CEO),” said the 58-year-old, who has owned a Tesla Model Y since 2022. “For me, a product’s value for money is the most important consideration.” While Tesla owners overseas appear to have been discriminated against, “thankfully no such actions have taken place here in Singapore”, he added. Mr Loh said the brand's current turmoil could even be a blessing in disguise. “The lesser demand for Teslas may result in the company reducing prices, so hopefully when the time comes to replace my Tesla with another one, it will be much more affordable.\" Another owner in his 40s, who only wanted to be known as Jason, said he didn't care about Tesla's image as a current owner. But he would have his concerns when the time comes to sell his car. He's planning to switch to a Chinese EV brand after facing some technical issues with his Tesla. “Perception of the brand worries me only because of resale value implications,” he said. But Jason remained generally optimistic. “I don't think Singaporeans are too affected by what goes on in the US ... The Singapore car market is robust (and) I don't foresee its resale value going lower than normal depreciation,” he said. A \"POLITICAL\" CAR? Asked about Tesla owners in Singapore not being swayed by trends elsewhere, sociologist Tan Ern Ser said part of the reason was that “not everyone is following US politics closely, neither do they see it as relevant”. Even if interest in US politics increases, it may still not lead to a spillover effect on the people who gravitate towards Teslas, “as long as the cars serve their purpose”, said Associate Professor Tan, who's from the Institute of Policy Studies think-tank. But it might be a different case for those planning to sell their vehicles, like Jason. It might also affect those who bought their Teslas before the dip in shares and hence feel a sense of \"paper loss\", he added. And sentiments might shift if the material lives of Singaporeans start to be affected by US political decisions. “It may eventually catch up with Singaporeans if or when the effect of Trump's tariffs hit our economy,” said Assoc Prof Tan. He was unsurprised by the repercussions seen elsewhere, of Mr Musk's politics on what is otherwise a consumer object. “This polarisation (casued) by right-wing politics gives permission for people to adopt its nastiness and mean-spiritedness; and a tendency for every aspect of social, economic life to become highly politicised and weaponised,” he said. “A car will eventually no longer be just a car, but a political object.”",

      • "content": "SINGAPORE: In his inaugural address in January, United States President Donald Trump declared: \"We will forge a society that is colour blind and merit-based.\" Shortly after, his administration rolled back nearly 80 executive orders from the Biden era, many of which supported diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Major corporations like Pepsi, General Motors, Google , Disney, Intel and PayPal have responded by scaling back or removing DEI references in their 2024 annual reports to investors. According to a Financial Times report this month, 90 per cent of the top 400 companies in the S&P 500 index that have submitted annual reports since Mr Trump’s election have reduced references to DEI, with many ditching the term entirely. If organisations genuinely viewed DEI as critical to business success, would they so readily abandon it in response to external pressures? Or does this suggest that many DEI initiatives were primarily about risk management and branding rather than fundamental business change? Perhaps the real test of DEI is not when it is fashionable but when it is challenged. As newly minted DBS Group CEO Tan Su Shan noted at a thought leadership event on Mar 12, leadership is about being responsible and companies should stick to their DEI commitments regardless of political developments. “Don’t chop and change because you’re trying to ingratiate yourself with another administration,” she said. Ms Tan, who took over the top job on Mar 28 when Mr Piyush Gupta retired, is the bank’s first female CEO . FROM DIVERSITY TO INCLUSIVENESS A significant consequence of political and social shifts in the US is the decentralisation of DEI efforts within global organisations. As US-based firms face increasing pressure to scale back their DEI initiatives , regional offices are taking a more localised approach. In many cases, these international branches are expanding their DEI strategies to align with local cultural values, regulatory requirements and workforce expectations. For instance, while racial diversity has been a dominant DEI focus in the US, many Asian companies prioritise factors such as socioeconomic mobility, linguistic inclusion and interfaith accommodation. This localisation could suggest that one of the weaknesses of past DEI initiatives was their tendency to apply Western-centric frameworks globally without adapting to local realities. Consequently, while DEI efforts may be contracting in the US, they are evolving in Asia and other parts of the world, with a key shift being from diversity to inclusiveness. Diversity highlights and celebrates differences - such as race, gender and culture - while inclusiveness goes a step further, fostering a sense of belonging for all. Inclusiveness ensures that everyone, regardless of their background, feels valued and integral to the community. Many companies in Asia already take such an approach. For instance, Singapore is a highly diverse society with a mix of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian ethnic groups, along with a variety of religious communities - Buddhists, Christians, Muslims and Hindus, to name a few. Companies here often emphasise multicultural inclusivity, language policies and religious accommodations. Most local and even US firms operating in Singapore ensure that prayer rooms are available for Muslim employees and that company policies respect the diverse cultural festivals of different ethnic groups. This suggests that companies that take a more holistic, culturally attuned approach to DEI may be better positioned to sustain their commitments regardless of political pressure, because their efforts are seen as necessary to business rather than reactive branding exercises. Even if the DEI focus is on gender, Asian countries take a different approach to US firms. Japan, for example, has one of the lowest female workforce participation rates among developed countries. Still, instead of adopting Western-style gender quotas, companies there focus on work-life balance and parental leave policies to encourage women to stay in the workforce. Meanwhile, LGBTQ rights may be central DEI priorities in Europe and the US, but Asia’s more conservative approach necessitates that DEI strategies be adapted to align with local cultural and societal norms. MERIT-BASED SYSTEMS OR JUST A COURSE CORRECTION? The reversals in the US present an opportunity to move beyond so-called “bad DEI” - defined by ideological conformity and a “cancel” culture that focuses on enforcing a narrow set of beliefs, stifling open dialogue and prioritising groupthink over constructive disagreement and authentic engagement. This reframes the DEI conversation, making it less about political correctness and more about fair, merit-based systems that deliver real-world outcomes. Perhaps this backlash is the necessary stress test DEI needed. It has exposed the distinction between organisations that genuinely believe in DEI (the ones that have announced they will continue to pursue DEI despite the anti-woke narrative), and those that were doing it for optics. This is good for all stakeholders. For example, Apple shareholders last month rejected a proposal to end its DEI initiatives, although CEO Tim Cook has signalled potential adjustments amid legal pressure. Meanwhile, cosmetics company Lush created three new bath bombs named Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. “We believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential in building justice and belonging in the workplace - and beyond,” the company said. If DEI is to survive, it must prove its value. Not in mission statements, but in measurable outcomes. That means moving beyond vague slogans and check-the-box exercises to demonstrate how diversity, when done right, fosters innovation, strengthens teams and improves long-term performance. Firstly, the ASEAN Alternate Chair Prime Minister of Malaysia said his deep sorrow over the damage and losses in Myanmar, both on behalf of Malaysia and as the ASEAN Chair. He stated that this morning, Malaysia had already dispatched a rescue and relief team via aircraft. Similarly, the Malaysian Foreign Minister held a virtual meeting with the foreign ministers of other ASEAN member states to discuss how ASEAN member nations, as a family, could extend their cooperation and assistance, including support for the affected people. The Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the phone discussions regarding the situation in Myanmar, both in his capacity as the Alternate Chair of ASEAN and as the Prime Minister of Malaysia. He also conveyed appreciation for the assistance provided by Malaysia. Furthermore, he acknowledged the support from the AHA Centre, noting that rescue teams from Singapore arrived yesterday and are already carrying out their duties. He stated that search and rescue operations were ongoing. As of now, approximately 1,700 people have died, around 3,400 have been injured, and nearly 300 people are missing. The death toll may continue to rise, and the situation remains subject to change. He emphasized appreciation for the support and cooperation of ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, in this time of hardship and extended gratitude to the ASEAN community. The Alternate Chair of the ASEAN Malaysian Prime Minister continued that Myanmar is a country that maintains friendly and cordial relations with Malaysia. Therefore, Malaysia will make every effort to provide the best possible assistance. Moreover, the Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs will be sent to Myanmar to assess the on-ground situation and explore the possible support to be extended to Myanmar. The Senior General responded that Malaysia is a country that maintains a strong and friendly relationship with Myanmar. Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing gave necessary guidance at the special meeting to promptly conduct rescue, relief and rehabilitation in the earthquake-affected areas, at the parlour of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services yesterday early morning. Meeting attendees reported on ongoing rescue and relief operations in the affected areas, and offers of foreign countries to send their relief aid, rescue squads and medical teams to Myanmar. In his response to the reports, the Senior General said that the reconstruction efforts following the earthquake must be carried out in three main phases such as clearing and removing debris from collapsed buildings and damaged structures, systematically dismantling and removing partially collapsed buildings to prevent further hazards and rebuilding and reconstruction. Efforts must be made to restore roads, bridges, and government-owned buildings damaged by the earthquake. Significant financial resources, manpower, and machinery must be utilized to ensure the success of these reconstruction projects. It is necessary to provide support for private construction projects. Therefore, when seeking international assistance, it is important to include requests for the necessary construction materials required for reconstruction. In the field of building insurance, systematic verification of existing insurance coverage should be conducted to ensure the acquisition of insurance compensation. It is necessary to arrange suitable accommodation and food for international rescue teams. Efforts must also be made to restore communication routes to their original state as quickly as possible. Urgent restoration work is required for the collapsed Inwa rail-cum-bridge on the old Sagaing-Mandalay road, and waterway transport must be reopened promptly. Other railway tracks damaged by the earthquake should be repaired as soon as possible to resume train operations. Damaged airport runways must be repaired and reopened quickly to enhance the efficiency of rescue operations. The Ministry of Construction and the Directorate of Military Engineers have to make collaborative efforts to restore damaged roads and bridges to their original state as quickly as possible. Furthermore, heavy trucks unable to transport large quantities of essential supplies should be quickly deployed to earthquake-affected areas. It is necessary to carry out restoration projects in a systematic and well-planned manner to ensure the long-term sustainability and stability of ancient cultural heritage structures that have been damaged. Approximately 40 per cent of the Mandalay Royal Palace’s walls have suffered damage. During restoration efforts, it is important to preserve the original design and use high-quality, standard bricks to repair the walls, ensuring that the work is completed before the rainy season. Appropriate arrangements should be made to ensure that all monks in Mandalay have sufficient provisions, including food and other necessary supplies. It is necessary to take lessons from the recent earthquake damage and ensure that bridges and buildings are constructed systematically to meet disaster-resilient standards. Moreover, earthquake-related data and incidents should be systematically recorded and released. The Senior General instructed that in distributing relief and support supplies, a systematic record must be maintained to ensure that all earthquake victims and those who are rightfully entitled receive the necessary aid for the convenience of victims. All officials must meticulously compile records on the supply of relief aid to prevent duplication and to ensure fairness so that no one is left out. Furthermore, extensive efforts will be required for rehabilitation, and priority tasks should be carried out as quickly as possible. He viewed round damage of roads and bridges caused by the earthquake in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and the repairing process by car. At Ottarathiri General Hospital, the Senior General inspected the damage to the hospital whereas the medical superintendent and officials reported on damaged parts of the hospital. The Senior General coordinated with officials to rescue those who were trapped in the collapsed parts of the hospital and clear of debris quickly. On his inspection tour, the Senior General cordially greeted and spoke words of appreciation to members of the rescue crew from Yunnan Province of China who early arrived in Myanmar within 18 hours and are carrying out rescue and relief operations together with Myanmar’s rescue teams. The Yunnan’s rescue team consists of 37 medical professionals together with 112 sets of emergency rescue equipment. They arrived at Yangon International Airport at 7 am on 29 March. Since arrival, these crew members of the Yunnan rescue team have been carrying out rescue and relief measures. Working together with Myanmar rescue teams, they rescued an old woman alive, who was trapped in Ottarathiri General Hospital at about 4 pm yesterday, 36 hours after the quake. The Senior General viewed the removal of debris and rescue measures at the collapsed Dhammayon of Khemathiwun Monastery in Pyinmana, gave necessary guidance to officials and encouraged the rescue teams. He paid homage to Monastery Presiding Patron Abhidhaja Maharatthaguru Bhaddanta Tejaniya, aged 92, vasa 72, asked after health conditions and donated alms. The Senior General looked into clearing debris at collapsed and damaged buildings in Pyinmana and instructed officials to promptly remove piles of damaged parts and bricks and prioritize smooth transportation. He cordially conversed with Tatmadaw members, Myanmar Police Force members and firefighters. Currently, officials of the government, Tatmadaw members, MPF members, firefighters, volunteers and residents are vigorously carrying out rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations in the earthquake-affected areas. — MNA/TTA",

He also noted that the relief efforts were underway in severely hit places than theirs and that current staff housing units are not suitable for habitation. He fulfilled water supply requirements, temporary toilets, and telephone charging for the staff. And 130 people are still missing, it is learnt.As soon as the earthquake hit Myanmar, State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered a speech to the nation to deliver words of bereftment to the bereaved families and encourage the injured. He also went on an inspection tour of the areas stricken by the earthquake and provided necessary assistance.The Prime Minister has also requested the international community to provide assistance. In response to his request, US, Russia, China, India, Thai, Viet Nam, Singapore and Hong Kong SAR have started to take steps for providing assistance. ငလျင်ဟာ ရစ်ချ်တာစကေးလ် 7.7 ရှိပြီး ဇောက်( depth) က 10Km သာ ရှိပါတယ်။ကမ္ဘာ့အပေါ်ယံမြေလွှာနဲ့ နီးစပ် ကပ်လှုပ်တဲ့ ပြင်းအားမြင့် ငလျင်ဖြစ်သွားတာပါ။ သက်ရောက်မှုနယ်ပယ်လည်း အတော့်ကို ကျယ်ပြန့်သွားတာ ပုံမှာမြင်ရတဲ့ ဧရိယာတကြော လှုပ်ခတ်သွားတာပါ။စစ်ကိုင်းပြတ်ရွေ့ကြောရဲ့ လှုပ်ရှားမှု ပုံစံဟာ ဇောက်တိမ် ငလျင်သာ လှုတ်ခတ်မှာပါ။အဲဒီဒေသတွေမှာ အထပ်မြင့် အဆောက်အဦတွေ မဆောက်ရပါဘူး။ ဆောက်ပါကလည်း စစ်ကိုင်းပြတ်ရွေ့ကြောကြီး ရှိနေတာ သိထားပြီး—၁၉၃၀ ပြည့်နှစ်မှာ ပဲခူးငလျင်၊ ပြင်းအား (၇.၃-၇.၅ ကြား) ၁၉၄၆ ခုနှစ်မှာ စစ်ကိုင်းငလျင် ၊ ပြင်းအား (၈) ၁၉၅၁ ခုနှစ်မှာ စစ်ကိုင်းငလျင်၊ ပြင်းအား(၇.၁)၊၁၉၇၅ ခုနှစ်မှာ ပုဂံငလျင် ပြင်းအား(၆.၅)၊၂၀၁၂ ခုနှစ်မှာ ရွှေဘိုငလျင် ပြင်းအား(၆.၈)စသဖြင့် ပြင်းအားမြင့် ငလျင်တွေ လှုပ်ခတ်ခဲ့တာ ကြုံခဲ့ဖူးပြီး ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ကျန်ခဲ့တဲ့ မတ်လအတွင်းမှာ ငလျင်အသေးလေးတွေ အကြိမ်ကြိမ် လှုပ်ပါတယ်။ယခု အချိန်ထိ ငလျင်နဲ့ ပတ်သက်ပြီး အကာအကွယ် မရှိခဲ့တာဟာ မနေ့က လှုပ်သွားတဲ့ ပြင်းအားမြင့် ငလျင်မှာ ပြည်သူတွေ အသက်ဆုံးရှုံးမှု များရခြင်းပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။Shelter ယာယီနားခိုရာ ခိုလှုံဖို့ အဆောက်အဦတွေ မရှိတာဟာလည်း ဘေးလွတ်ရာ ထွက်ဖို့ အခွင့် ဆုံးရှုံးတာ ဖြစ်တယ်။ငလျင်ကြောကြီး ရှိနေတယ်၊ မကြာမကြာလည်း လှုပ်ပြီး အထိအခိုက် အပျက်အစီး လူသေဆုံးမှုတွေ ဖြစ်နေပါလျက်နဲ့ အကာအကွယ် ယနေ့တိုင် မရှိဖြစ်ဆဲ။အဓိကကတော့ တိုင်းပြည်ဟာ ဖွံ့ဖြိုးတိုးတက်နေပြီးတော့ အုပ်ချုပ်သူဟာ ပြည်သူတွေအပေါ် စေတနာ ထားဖို့ပါပဲ။၁၉၆၂ ခုနှစ် ကနေ ယနေ့တိုင် ကိုယ်ကျိုးရှာတဲ့သူတွေသာ အုပ်ချုပ်ခဲ့ကြတယ်။ တိုင်းပြည်ချမ်းသာသလောက် ပြည်သူတွေ ဆင်းရဲကြတယ်။တိုင်းပြည်ဘဏ္ဍာတွေကို စစ်အာဏာရှင် မိသားစုတွေ ဆွေစဥ်မျိုးဆက် စားမကုန်အောင် ချမ်းသာတဲ့အထိ အလွဲ သုံးကြတယ်။ပြည်သူအတွက် ဘာတစ်ခုမှ ထည့်မစဥ်းစားဘဲ ဆင်းရဲမွဲတေ အောင်ထားကာ စားဖို့နေဖို့ ရုန်းကန်နေရအောင် လုပ်ထားတယ်။အခု ဖြစ်တာဟာ သဘာဝဘေးပါ။ သဘာဝဘေးပေမယ့် ကြိုတင်ကာကွယ်ပေးထားက ပိုးစိုးပက်စက် ကူကယ်ရာမဲ့ အဖြစ်တွေ မရှိနိုင်ဘူး။ငလျင်လှုပ်လည်း အဆောက်အဦက စနစ်တကျ နဲ့ စိစစ် ခွင့်ပြု ဆောက်ထားတာ ဆိုပါက အခုလို အဆောက်အဦးတွေ ပြိုကြ ၊ အထပ်လိုက် နစ်မြုပ်သွားတာမျိုး နည်းသွားပြီး လူအထိအခိုက်နည်းမယ်။ယာယီနားခိုရာတွေ ရှိနေပါက လမ်းဘေးမှာ ဖြစ်သလို အိပ်ဖို့ မလိုသလို အရေးပေါ် ကယ်ဆယ်ဖို့ အခွင့်အလမ်းရှိတယ်။ခုချိန်အထိ တာဝန်ရှိသူ အကြီးအကဲတွေဟာ ငလျင်ကြော အကြီးစား ရှိနေတာ သိသိနဲ့ မျက်ကွယ်ပြုထားတယ်။ ကြိုတင် အကာအကွယ် ဘာဆို ဘာမှ မရှိဘူး။ ကယ်ဆယ်ရေး ပစ္စည်း၊ အသုံးအဆောင်၊ယာဥ်တွေ ဝယ်ထားတာ ကျောက်ထုလွှာနှင့် အိန္ဒိယကျောက်ထုလွှာအကြားတွင် ဖြစ်ပေါ်တည်ရှိနေတဲ့ ပြတ်ရွေ့ကြောဖြစ်ပြီး မန္တလေး၊ ရမည်းသင်း၊ ပျဉ်းမနား၊ နေပြည်တော်၊ တောင်ငူနှင့် ပဲခူးတို့ကို ဖြတ်သန်းလျက် တည်ရှိနေတယ်။ ပြတ်ရွေ့ကြောဟာ အသက်ဝင်လျက်(Active) ရှိပြီး တစ်နှစ်မှာ ရွေ့လျားနှုန်း ၁၀၀ ကီလိုမီတာ ရှိတယ်။ ၁၉၃၄ ခုနှစ်ခန့်မှာ ပညာရှင်တွေဟာ မြန်မာပြည်အနီး ပြတ်ရွေ့ကြော တစ်ခု ရှိကြောင်း သဲလွန်စ ရှိတဲ့အတွက် လေ့လာကြရာ မန္တလေးရဲ့ အနောက်ဘက်စွန်းမှာ သက်ဝင်ပြတ်ရွေ့ကြော ရှိကြောင်း တွေ့ရှိကြတယ်။ ၁၉၇၀ ပြည့်နှစ်မှာ သပိတ်ကျင်းနဲ့ တောင်ငူကြား ရှည်လျားတဲ့ ပြတ်ရွေ့ကြောရှိနေတာ မြန်မာပညာရှင်တွေ အတည်ပြုခဲ့ကြပြီး စစ်ကိုင်းပြတ်ရွေ့ကြောလို့ အမည်ပေးခဲ့ကြတာ ဖြစ်တယ်။ မနေ့က အဆိုပါ စစ်ကိုင်းပြတ်ရွေ့ကြော လှုပ်ရှားသွားတာ ဖြစ်တယ်။ သူ လှုပ်ရှားတဲ့ ပုံစံက Transform ဖြစ်တယ်။ (ပုံမှာ မြင်ရတဲ့အတိုင်းပါ။) စနစ်သစ်ပညာရေး အလယ်တန်းသိပ္ပံနဲ့ GED Science မှာ သင်ကြရတဲ့ ကမ္ဘာမြေသိပ္ပံ သင်ခန်းစာမှာ ငလျင်အကြောင်း သင်ကြရတယ်။ ကမ္ဘာမြေထု ကျောက်ချပ်လွှာတွေ ရွေ့လျားတာကြောင့် ငလျင် ဖြစ်တယ်။ အဆိုပါ ကျောက်ချပ်လွှာ လှုပ်ရှားတဲ့ ပုံစံ ၃ မျိုး ရှိတယ်။ ၁။ Transform boundary ၂။ Divergent boundary ၃။ Convergent boundary အဲဒီ ပုံစံ ၃ မျိုးထဲကမှ စစ်ကိုင်းပြတ်ရွေ့ကြောဟာ Transform ပုံစံ လှုပ်တာ ဖြစ်တယ်။ ပေးထားတဲ့ အမည်နာမအတိုင်း အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရှိတယ်။ Transform ပုံစံ ပွတ်တိုက်မှု ဖြစ်တာဟာ ပုံစံ အသစ်ဖြစ်ပေါ်ခြင်း သို့မဟုတ်၊ အသွင်ပြောင်းပုံစံ ဖြစ်လာမှာပါ။ အခုလို ပြတ်ရွေ့ကြော လှုပ်ရှားပြီး တဖြည်းဖြည်း မြေထု ခြားသွားကာ သဲကန္တာရတွေ ဖြစ်လာမယ်။ ဒါက နှစ်သန်းပေါင်းများစွာအကြာ အသွင်ပြောင်းသွားမယ့် အရာပါ။ လတ်တလော ခုလို ကျောက်ထုချပ်တွေ ရေပြင်ညီအတိုင်း ဘေးတိုက်လှုပ်တဲ့ Transform ပုံစံ မျိုးဟာ shallow earthquakes ( ဇောက်တိမ်ငလျင်) ဖြစ်စေတာပါ။ ငလျင်လှုပ်တဲ့အခါ ကမ္ဘာ့မြေထု အတွင်းဘက် ဇောက်နက်လေ အပေါ်ယံလွှာ အပေါ် သက်ရောက်မှုနည်းလေ ဖြစ်တယ်။ ရစ်ချ်တာစကေး ၅ကနေ ၆ နီးပါး ရှိသော်မှအနက် (Depth) 300 Km- 700Km အတွင်း ဇောက်နက် ငလျင် ဖြစ်ကာ အပျက်အဆီး အထိအခိုက်နည်းပါတယ်။ တချိူ့ ဒေသတွေဆိုက ငလျင်လှုပ်တာ သိရုံပဲ သိကြပါတယ်။ အနက် အလယ်အလတ် အဆင့် ဖြစ်တဲ့ 70Km- 300Km မှာ လှုပ်ပါကလည်း သက်ရောက်မှု အထိအခိုက် နည်းပါတယ်။ ဇောက်တိမ်ငလျင်( Shallow earthquake) ကတော့ အနက် 0Km- 70Km အတွင်း ပဲ ရှိပါတယ်။ မနေ့က လှုပ်တဲ့ ငလျင်ဟာ ရစ်ချ်တာစကေးလ် 7.7 ရှိပြီး ဇောက်( depth) က 10Km သာ ရှိပါတယ်။ ကမ္ဘာ့အပေါ်ယံမြေလွှာနဲ့ နီးစပ် ကပ်လှုပ်တဲ့ ပြင်းအားမြင့် ငလျင်ဖြစ်သွားတာပါ။ သက်ရောက်မှုနယ်ပယ်လည်း အတော့်ကို ကျယ်ပြန့်သွားတာ ပုံမှာမြင်ရတဲ့ ဧရိယာတကြော လှုပ်ခတ်သွားတာပါ။ စစ်ကိုင်းပြတ်ရွေ့ကြောရဲ့ လှုပ်ရှားမှု ပုံစံဟာ ဇောက်တိမ် ငလျင်သာ လှုတ်ခတ်မှာပါ။ အဲဒီဒေသတွေမှာ အထပ်မြင့် အဆောက်အဦတွေ မဆောက်ရပါဘူး။ ဆောက်ပါကလည်း ငလျင်ဒဏ်ခံနိုင်အောင် စနစ်တကျ ဆောက်ရမှာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ အရေးအကြီးဆုံးက အဆိုပါ ငလျင်ကြော နီးကပ်ရာ မြို့၊ ရွာတွေမှာ ယာယီနားခိုရာ Shelter တွေ ဆောက်လုပ် ထားရှိရမှာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ကျမတို့ မြန်မာပြည်မှာ စစ်ကိုင်းပြတ်ရွေ့ကြောကြီး ရှိနေတာ သိထားပြီး— ၁၉၃၀ ပြည့်နှစ်မှာ ပဲခူးငလျင်၊ ပြင်းအား (၇.၃-၇.၅ ကြား) ၁၉၄၆ ခုနှစ်မှာ စစ်ကိုင်းငလျင် ၊ ပြင်းအား (၈) ၁၉၅၁ ခုနှစ်မှာ စစ်ကိုင်းငလျင်၊ ပြင်းအား(၇.၁)၊ ၁၉၇၅ ခုနှစ်မှာ ပုဂံငလျင် ပြင်းအား(၆.၅)၊ ၂၀၁၂ ခုနှစ်မှာ ရွှေဘိုငလျင် ပြင်းအား(၆.၈) စသဖြင့် ပြင်းအားမြင့် ငလျင်တွေ လှုပ်ခတ်ခဲ့တာ ကြုံခဲ့ဖူးပြီး ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ကျန်ခဲ့တဲ့ မတ်လအတွင်းမှာ ငလျင်အသေးလေးတွေ အကြိမ်ကြိမ် လှုပ်ပါတယ်။ ယခု အချိန်ထိ ငလျင်နဲ့ ပတ်သက်ပြီး အကာအကွယ် မရှိခဲ့တာဟာ မနေ့က လှုပ်သွားတဲ့ ပြင်းအားမြင့် ငလျင်မှာ ပြည်သူတွေ အသက်ဆုံးရှုံးမှု များရခြင်းပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ Shelter ယာယီနားခိုရာ ခိုလှုံဖို့ အဆောက်အဦတွေ မရှိတာဟာလည်း ဘေးလွတ်ရာ ထွက်ဖို့ အခွင့် ဆုံးရှုံးတာ ဖြစ်တယ်။ ငလျင်ကြောကြီး ရှိနေတယ်၊ မကြာမကြာလည်း လှုပ်ပြီး အထိအခိုက် အပျက်အစီး လူသေဆုံးမှုတွေ ဖြစ်နေပါလျက်နဲ့ အကာအကွယ် ယနေ့တိုင် မရှိဖြစ်ဆဲ။ အဓိကကတော့ တိုင်းပြည်ဟာ ဖွံ့ဖြိုးတိုးတက်နေပြီးတော့ အုပ်ချုပ်သူဟာ ပြည်သူတွေအပေါ် စေတနာ ထားဖို့ပါပဲ။ ၁၉၆၂ ခုနှစ် ကနေ ယနေ့တိုင် ကိုယ်ကျိုးရှာတဲ့သူတွေသာ အုပ်ချုပ်ခဲ့ကြတယ်။ တိုင်းပြည်ချမ်းသာသလောက် ပြည်သူတွေ ဆင်းရဲကြတယ်။ တိုင်းပြည်ဘဏ္ဍာတွေကို စစ်အာဏာရှင် မိသားစုတွေ ဆွေစဥ်မျိုးဆက် စားမကုန်အောင် ချမ်းသာတဲ့အထိ အလွဲ သုံးကြတယ်။ ပြည်သူအတွက် ဘာတစ်ခုမှ ထည့်မစဥ်းစားဘဲ ဆင်းရဲမွဲတေ အောင်ထားကာ စားဖို့နေဖို့ ရုန်းကန်နေရအောင် လုပ်ထားတယ်။ အခု ဖြစ်တာဟာ သဘာဝဘေးပါ။ သဘာဝဘေးပေမယ့် ကြိုတင်ကာကွယ်ပေးထားက ပိုးစိုးပက်စက် ကူကယ်ရာမဲ့ အဖြစ်တွေ မရှိနိုင်ဘူး။ ငလျင်လှုပ်လည်း အဆောက်အဦက စနစ်တကျ နဲ့ စိစစ် ခွင့်ပြု ဆောက်ထားတာ ဆိုပါက အခုလို အဆောက်အဦးတွေ ပြိုကြ ၊ အထပ်လိုက် နစ်မြုပ်သွားတာမျိုး နည်းသွားပြီး လူအထိအခိုက်နည်းမယ်။ ယာယီနားခိုရာတွေ ရှိနေပါက လမ်းဘေးမှာ ဖြစ်သလို အိပ်ဖို့ မလိုသလို အရေးပေါ် ကယ်ဆယ်ဖို့ အခွင့်အလမ်းရှိတယ်။ ခုချိန်အထိ တာဝန်ရှိသူ အကြီးအကဲတွေဟာ ငလျင်ကြော အကြီးစား ရှိနေတာ သိသိနဲ့ မျက်ကွယ်ပြုထားတယ်။ ကြိုတင် အကာအကွယ် ဘာဆို ဘာမှ မရှိဘူး။ Rashford netted his first goal for Villa since a February loan move from Manchester United when he side-footed a low cross from Lucas Digne into the net 13 minutes after halftime. Jacob Ramsey scored an excellent third for Villa to settle the contest as Preston’s stout resistance crumbled and Villa's greater quality and experience shone through.       • "content": "SINGAPORE: A man was freed from a collapsed building in Myanmar by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel and local rescuers on Sunday (Mar 30) morning after an eight-hour operation, following the deadly 7.7-magnitude earthquake on Friday that has killed more than 1,700 people. In a Facebook post, SCDF said its Operation Lionheart team began search and rescue operations in the Zebuthiri Township in Naypyidaw at about 1am, and first assessed a disaster site along Aungmyay Theinkha street, where two three-storey residential buildings had collapsed. While rescuers used life detection equipment and two canines to locate potential survivors, no signs of life were detected, they said. The team then responded to a semi-collapsed three-storey residential building along Ngu Wah Road, where local authorities had reported that a man was found trapped inside. \"Upon arrival, the team worked with the local rescuers from Naypyidaw Fire Service Department, under Myanmar Fire Services Department, and gained access into the collapsed structure through a narrow passage to rescue the man trapped underneath the concrete slabs,\" said SCDF, adding that the man was conscious and able to communicate. \"Throughout the rescue operation, the team maintained contact with the person and water was provided to the man through a plastic tube inserted through the crevices between the concrete slabs.\" Cutting and breaking equipment were used to break through the slabs that trapped the man, said SCDF. The man was rescued at 11am, after an eight-hour operation. He was conveyed to a local hospital after being assessed to be stable and conscious. On Saturday, SCDF said that an 80-member team would be deployed to Myanmar to assist in disaster rescue efforts. The Operation Lionheart team comprises rescuers from the elite Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART), operationally ready National Servicemen, full-time National Servicemen medical doctors, paramedics, search specialists with four canines, hazardous materials specialists, and support officers. They arrived in Yangon at about 4pm on Saturday and travelled to Naypyidaw on a domestic flight. The earthquake which struck near the central Myanmar city of Mandalay was followed minutes later by a 6.7-magnitude aftershock. The tremors collapsed buildings, bridges and damaged roads, with mass destruction seen in the city of more than 1.7 million people. Myanmar junta chief Min Aung Hlaing issued a rare appeal for international aid on Friday, indicating the severity of the disaster.",
